JOURNEY

Amy Winehouse’s debut album, Frank, was produced by Fugees, Joss Stone, Nas, and T Salaam Remi, and showcased strong jazz influences throughout. Amy co-wrote every song on the album, and four singles were released: "Stronger Than Me", "Take the Box", "In My Bed"/"You Sent Me Flying", and "Pumps"/"Help Yourself". Frank quickly established her as one of the UK’s most promising jazz artists.

In 2004, Amy was nominated for Best British Female Solo Artist and Best British Urban Act at the BRIT Awards, and the album achieved platinum status. It became the 13th best-selling album of the year in the UK, 70th in Ireland, and 89th in Jamaica. By the end of the year, she won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song for "Stronger Than Me", and performed at major festivals such as Glastonbury and V Festival, as well as in several European cities. Frank was also shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, though the award ultimately went to Basement Jaxx’s Kish Kash.

Reflecting on the album later, Amy said:
"Now 'Frank' sounds very different to me. I’m still proud of it and still think it’s a beautiful album, but with today’s experience and perspective, it would be a completely different album." She also shared that she felt about 80% satisfied with Frank, while Back to Black brought her even greater satisfaction.
